OkCupid

Over the years, I've watched and listened as friends have created profiles at different online dating sites, with varying degrees of success.  I mean, I'm not knocking the online dating world; my mom got married to a great guy she met on eHarmony, and my best friend dated a dude from OkCupid for like 3 years!

Anyway, I have been a member of the Coupled Community for the better part of the past decade.  This kind of freaks me out in some ways, considering that I'm going to be 27 in a month.  As such, I've never really had the opportunity or reason to have a profile on any online dating sites.  In fact, having had one probably would've caused serious rifts with my varying significant others.  After all: "But I only did it because I wanted to see what kind of crazy people would say ridiculous stuff to me!" is a pretty lame excuse, even if a true one.

So now that I'm NOT in a relationship with anyone anymore, and will soon be moving back to a city of roughly 3 million people, I figured: what the fuck!  I'm going to make an OkCupid profile and see what kind of crazy shit comes my way.

I GIVE YOU THAT FIRST INSTALLATION.

Suitor #1 says:  "Hey Do you like to sing or play any instruments?"
  • Points off for lack of comma usage.
  • Dude, you really don't ever want to hear me sing.  Not even at karaoke, and not even if we're drunk.  This message was just kind of...weird.
Suitor #2 says: "Yes, a bit like Ms. SVU.  But I don't mind. :)"
  • Please note that my profile indicates that people commonly tell me that I look like Mariska Hargitay, which probably isn't the worst thing in the world.
  • WELL, I'M GLAD IT DOESN'T BOTHER YOU.
Suitor #3 says:  "Hi there. Yes you are tall but you also a superb taste in music!"
  •  You are correct, sir.  I AM tall.  Been tall my whole life.  People still seem to love to point this out to me, as if I had perhaps never noticed that I was tall before.
  • Does being tall typically negate good taste in music?
OkCupid Conclusion #1:  These dudes have perfected the backhanded compliment.
